In this article today I would like to discuss several tips, tricks, and techniques that just about everybody can do to help raise smart and intelligent children even if you are an incredibly busy parent.

In today’s fast-paced and technologically advanced world where both parents often work, and work exceedingly long hours, it can often be difficult to raise children to grow up to be intelligent and assertive adults. Fortunately there are several things you can do, even if you are incredibly busy, and that’s what I would like to discuss with you today.

Your children need to do well in school, I don’t think anybody will argue against that. How well they do in school determines a huge amount of their future, so anything you can do to help them succeed at school is beneficial.

One of the best things that a parent can do, even a busy parent, is to promote a culture of reading in the home. Reading is the foundation of all intelligence and the building block of knowledge. Kids can’t do well in school if they don’t have a strong reading background. To help foster and cultivate a culture of reading you should read with your children at a young age. I suggest reading them a short book at bedtime. As they get older continue the reading culture by discussing different books with them while driving them to school or at the dinner table.

Your children shouldn’t always read educational materials, instead they should focus on reading what they enjoy because reading should never seem like a chore, it should always be fun.

Another thing a busy parent can do to help make sure their children grow up intelligently is to encourage their curiosity. Encourage your children to ask questions often and on anything they are curious about. Whenever your children ask you something, especially if you don’t know the answer, don’t pass them off with a pat answer. Ask them what they think and when they don’t know the answer help them look it up online or in an Encyclopedia.

Finally, you should always know what’s going on at your child’s school. This one is particularly hard for parents who are especially busy but it can be one of the most important things. To do this, you should attend as many school event as your schedule allows. You should always also ask your children about what they’re studying in school to be as involved as possible.

So there you have several very simple tips, tricks, and techniques that you can use to help ensure that you raise intelligent and driven children who are eager to learn and succeed. It can be an incredibly difficult thing for a busy parent but will be well worth the effort in the end.
